IRENE GRANT BA (Hons) LSTD

Irene Grant is a British artist and designer who now lives in Competa, amongst the
stunning mountains of the Axarquia region of Andalucia.

THE ARTIST

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Irene's vivid appreciation of light and colour is reminiscent
of the Scottish colourist tradition, while her composition and style reflects her graphic
design training.

Irene studied fine art at both Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, and The Slade School of Art in London. This was followed by a graphic design degree at the London Institute. She has travelled extensively during her life, spending long periods in Australia, the USA and Europe.

Over recent years Irene has gradually moved away from her career in graphic design to devote her energies to oil painting, and in 2003 she moved to Southern Spain where the light and colour continue to supply inspiration.

Working across a variety of subject matter, a continuous motif in her work is still life, directly observed. She also uses her photographs and sketches as a reference or starting point for paintings.

Estudió a Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen y tambien a Slade School of Art, London. Fue durante muchos años diseñadora grafica en E.E.U.U. y UK antes de volver a pintar.

Trabajando mayormente con oleos sobre lienza, el tema de sus obras alterna entre paisajes de mar, paisages, escenas de playa, bodegones y retratos a peticion.
